This course covers all of the most essential skills needed to maintain a secure environment for websites and web server systems. It teaches how to prevent website break-ins, how to perform ongoing web security monitoring, and how to detect and recover from security breaches.

The course features hands-on work on an Apache-based web server running in the Amazon cloud environment. The student learns how to manage security settings for the base system and the web server software, how to keep active websites secure and set up website encryption, and how to harden security for dynamic website components including PHP, CGI, and databases.
