The first part of the course presents an overview of communications technologies and examines the two most important modern networks, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and the Internet.
From the get go, you are introduced to the trends that are shaping the modern telecom landscape, such as convergence, where many different services are provided over a single network. Telecom convergence is seen in cutting edge technologies like Voice over IP (VoIP) and IPTV.
