How do I earn my IT certification?
All IT certification programs require that you take one or more proctored certification
exams in order to achieve your actual certification. Our courses work to ensure
that you are ready and able to ace these certification exams, but you will
still need to go out and take the actual exams in order to earn your certification.
It is recommended that you take the certification exam as soon as possible
after completing a course, while the material is fresh in your mind.
Each course also provides you with a wealth of exam-taking tips and strategies.
You can learn more at the certification portion of this website.
How do I sign up for my certification exam?
There are two main exam proctoring companies (Vue and Prometric)
that administer the IT certification exams for Cisco, LPI Linux, and many others.
You can get complete info and sign up for your exam on their websites,
at either www.vue.com
or www.prometric.com.
It doesn't matter which company you use, as they both
offer the same certification exams at the same prices. However, each company
maintains testing centers at different locations, so you might want to choose
based on which of them has a testing center nearest to you. All of this info
and more is presented
within our courses to make sure that you are thoroughly prepared to get certified. You can also learn more at the certification portion of this website.
When will I receive my certification?
After passing a certification exam(s), you will receive all of your
documentation, including the official recognition of your achievement.
This gets mailed out by the certifying body, and the actual materials
vary by program. For example, Cisco mails out an official certificate
along with an ID card to recognize anyone who achieves CCNA certification.
LPI also provides official ID cards and other privileges
to those who achieve their Linux certification.
For how long will my certification remain valid?
This varies by program. The LPI Linux certification remains valid for 10 years. Cisco's certifications generally remain valid for 3 years, after which they can
be renewed by taking a simplified renewal exam. To learn more, visit the websites
of the certifying bodies, such as www.lpi.org
or www.cisco.com.
